TRACK 1: "Come to Me" [LYRICS]

"But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs,
praying to God who gives me life." - Psalm 42:8 NLT

In the midst of chaos, and bad news, and corruption, and every other kind of wave that crashes over us each day, the unfailing love of Jesus is there to cover us, to pour generously over us, causing these things to diminish to nothing. The beauty of God's love for His people overwhelms and overpowers the darkness and discouragement.

No matter where we are, what is going on in our lives, God is always calling His children to return to Him.

When I was writing "Come to Me" I was in a season of life where I just wanted to hear God's voice. I would wonder if God was speaking, or if God even wanted to speak to me. I wondered what I needed to DO to hear God's voice.

But, the truth is, there is nothing I had to do. And God wanted to speak to me. And God WAS speaking. I just had to learn how to listen. I had to pause. I had to be quiet.

In Psalm 42 we read that the psalmist is in the midst of trouble and chaos. Waves are crashing. But, even in the middle of that, the song of Heaven is with him. In the middle of depression, the "fortress" of God's love is there. Pouring out love and life.

This opening track from "Fortress" is an invitation. A call to simply come.

This song was originally titled "Rest In Me", but "Come to Me" seemed more fitting, and, after all, God calls us to come, and then He gives us rest. Just as Matthew 11:28 says; “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."

So, as the waves crash over you, as the trials grow unbearably hard, as trouble hovers... just come. His yoke is easy. His burden is light. He pours His unfailing love upon you. He gives you His songs. He gives you life. He gives you rest.

Draw close to God today. Pause. Be quiet. Rest in the shadow of the Almighty God. He is your fortress. And He is speaking to you. Listen for His song. It is being sung over you through the night.
