Good Good Father

"Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!" Psalm 34:8

There seems to be one truth about God that is the gateway to understanding all other truths about God. When we don't understand this, we are hindered in understanding all that God has for us, and all that He is.

God is a good father and He loves His children.

It is simple, yet so difficult to grasp. We have so much baggage, and religiousness, and brokenness, and worldliness that clouds our understanding. But, I believe God is making a way for us to understand.

I have the privilege of serving with a team at an awesome ministry called Fusion, at my home church (Victory World Church). The other night we did a song called "Good Good Father" by House Fires. The chorus is as follows.

You're a good good father
It's who you are
It's who you are
It's who you are
And I'm loved by you
It's who I am
It's who I am
It's who I am

I love this. Simple. Profound. Powerful.

Understanding this truth in the depths of your heart changes everything. God becomes real and personal, not distant and silent. God becomes accessible.

This, I believe, is only the beginning. Once we "get" this, the gateway to understanding all of the beautiful goodness of God's heart is unlocked.

And it isn't just about understanding, but experience. Not just knowledge about Him, but a deep revelation of who He is and who we are in Him. And He really is good, and we really are loved. I've tasted and seen.
